In this episode, I get to sit down with Brad Friedman, the Founder and President of The Friedman Group based in Denver, Colorado. Brad describes himself as a recovering attorney who now works with people to enhance their online presence while helping them take advantage of the power of social media. He is also the best-selling author of The Small Business Owner’s Guide to Inbound Marketing, and Brad Friedman on Digital Marketing: Doing Social Media Right, When You Don't Have the Time and Don't Want to Get in Trouble, and host of The Digital Slice Podcast.

As a highly-rated digital marketing guru, Brad works with both the corporate side to help them get clarity and understanding around compliance on social media and with individuals to build up their brand online. He reveals some of the trends he has observed in this space, as well as how he specifically helps people leverage social media to generate revenue — it’s about finding your target market, niching down and having a focused approach. We also discuss the importance of human-to-human engagement,  and how to get people to engage once you’re on the right platform speaking to your target audience. Tune in to find out more!

In this episode, I get to sit down with Korinne Le Page, a speaker and coach at Thrive Coaching & Training. Korinne is originally from Guernsey and has a background in finance and travel, but eventually became an entrepreneur in 1999. Since then she has specialized in working with entrepreneurs who are struggling to get to the next level and changing their mindset to break through the barriers they’ve built for themselves.

There is a certain amount of security in doing what’s familiar to us, and what’s often blocking us is the fear of doing something different. Korinne shares her specific tactics around changing your mindset and moving outside your comfort zone. She reveals how she helps her clients uncover the things that are holding them back, and why it is so important for what we do to be in alignment with our passion. Korinne also helps her clients figure to figure out their passion and ‘why’ — she gives her top tips for this, and explains why being your authentic self will attract the kind of people you need in your life. Tune in to find out more!

In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on a topic that is particularly relevant when things are going really well. This is something that affects the lending business, but can be applicable to all business owners as well. So, what's happening in the mortgage space right now is that the interest rates are extremely low. Lot of businesses in this space are doing really well because of the market, but this is something that I like to call the short-term gain, and without the right steps, it could turn into long-term pain.

It is easy to get distracted and lose track of the basics when when the economy is doing well and the market is hot, because you are seeing the short-term gains. However, to avoid the long-term pain, you must remember to stay on track and be consistent. Always be marketing yourself and creating your brand awareness so that you stay in front of your audience and top of mind. It boils down to priority management. Don't forget the basics when you are busy because that will cause a lot of pain in the long run when the market inevitably slows down again. The future is a series of ‘now’s. What are you doing now to guarantee your future?

In this episode, I chat with Tom Hutchens, the Executive Vice President of Production at Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions, a non-QM lender. Angel Oak operates across the country in 44 states and has found its niche in serving by helping loan officers to explore new opportunities to grow their business with unique wholesale lending solutions.

Tom explains the difference between QM (qualified mortgage) vs. non-QM (applicants that do not fill the strict requirements) loans, and what companies who choose not to offer non-QM loans are missing out because of their risk aversion. Tom shares what he has learned in the past six years that has led to his strategy for success and how this has formed the basis for moving his company forward. Two key areas that Tom focuses on are awareness and education. We take a look at why loan officers are hesitant to take on non-QM loans, how Tom overcomes these objections, and the biggest mistakes loan officers make when they first start out in this space. Tune in to find out some of Tom’s most popular products and why there is tremendous growth potential in this area (and how to get in on it)!

In this episode, I get to sit down with Phil Treadwell, the Vice President of Development and Regional Manager of Mason-McDuffie Mortgage, based out of Texas. Phil is the host of the Mortgage Marketing Expert Podcast, co-Founder of Industry Syndicate Media Networks, and has a wealth of experience in the area of using social media for lead generation.

A lot of people feel that social media can help with brand awareness and to get more exposure, but they don’t feel like they get actual leads or business from it. Phil shares his strategies on how to integrate social media with regular lead generation activities. It really comes down to using social media to get to know more people than ever before and creating relationships. Social media can be the basis for forming the initial relationship, but then we need to take the relationship offline. We talk about what it means to engage with people beyond just the superficial level, and why it’s so important for people to know, like, and trust us (Remember, it’s about them knowing who you are rather than what you do!) Phil also highlights the need to track your tactics and which strategies work so that you can capitalize on the 3Es — Effort, Effectiveness, and Efficiency. Tune in to find out more about all this and why, ultimately, meeting face-to-face is the most powerful and effective method of converting leads into paying clients.
